Tel Aviv Meet up
Hi there, was a really good idea for you guys to come we felt, having rented with you now for a year and received not one booking via airbnb, was good to get our queries and ideas out! We hope to be able to stay in touch and test out a few of the issues we were having with the site as well.
Safe travels! Gabrielle & Dov.
It was wonderful to get to know you all! Once we get back into the swing of things next week, you can bet we'll start beta testing and implementing some changes.
For the folks that weren't able to attend, the Tel Aviv community had several concerns namely:
- Airbnb fees not being included in the quote
- Potential guests with no photos or reviews
- Property company vs. individual owner
In Israel, where all taxes are baked into the quoted cost, we can understand why the fees at the end may be an unpleasant shock. I'll be bringing this up with the nerds at HQ.
As for no photos or reviews, this is something you can absolutely do something about. You can always say something along the lines of: "I like to get a sense of who my guests are before they visit. Mind putting up a photo and sharing the purpose of your trip?" This will allow you to get to know them better, and possibly weed out the oddballs.
Property vs. individuals, Airbnb welcomes all. While we feel like stays with hosts are the most interesting and insightful, there are times when you just want a simple, private short-term rental that property managers can provide. There's something for everyone! In both cases, we hope that our users will comply with local legislation.
